Freightliner introduces new engine with fuel efficiency, The Freightliner truck assembly plant introduced automated manual transmission for trucks AMT3 Business Class M2 six and seven of the U.S. and Canada last May 23, improving driver performance and fuel efficiency. Unlike automatic transmissions, the engine of Freightliner AMT3 transmitted with a hydraulic clutch innovative minimizes disruption and change acceleration.
Moreover, control of clutch and gear are administered by the Transmission Control Unit (TCU by its acronym in English) which evaluates the road network and load conditions to make changes to the engine RPMs for fast and smooth shifting fuel efficient.
“We know what our customers want, intelligent solutions, trusted to improve driver comfort and maximize savings, and Freightliner AMT3 reduces fuel and maintenance costs,” said director of product marketing for Freightliner trucks, TJ Reed.
The smooth clutch operation AMT3 significantly reduces wear and eliminates the need to replace the clutch almost throughout the life of the truck. Lightweight materials such as aluminum housing increases the efficiency of loading and durable components such as gears, heat treated alloy steel and sealed bearings are built to last for the life of the truck.
